Anglian Water, the largest water utility in the UK, has selected US-based water utility software and analytics provider Innovyze’s InfoWorks ICM product for sewer network modeling. The modeling tool facilitates predictive analysis for flood control to optimize the utility’s response to overflows.

Addressing sewer flooding has wide-reaching implications for Anglian to improve key metrics including sewer flooding incidents, pollution incidents, and discharge permit compliance.Flooding incidents have been the most challenging metric to improve, exacerbated by the size of its rivers and sewer networks.

Combined sewer overflow CAPEX has become a major element of total wastewater CAPEX spending in utilities’ AMP6 and Scotland’s SR15 business plans, totaling nearly US$2.4 billion.

Bluefield Takeaways

  • Challenging, long term task to address flooding on Anglian’s vast network.
  • Innovyze builds UK market traction with modeling capability, partner network.
  • Modeling enables UK to tackle combined sewer overflow challenges.
