On 8 June 2021, Amazon.com, Inc. launched Amazon Sidewalk, a low bandwidth network that bridges the firm’s growing footprint of smart home devices (e.g., Echo, Ring, Tile). The technology uses wireless low-energy Bluetooth and 900MHz LoRa radio signals to transfer data between compatible devices across distances typically greater than Wi-Fi, in some cases, as far as half a mile.
