U.S. & Canada Municipal Water: Key Trends, Deals, and Policy in Water Management, Q3 2024

In the first Clean Watershed Needs Survey (CWNS) report to Congress in 10 years, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimated that the project requirements to meet the water quality goals defined by the Clean Water Act will surpass US$630 billion over the next 20 years. Wastewater conveyance and stormwater management represent the largest share of total needs at US$151 billion and US$115 billion, respectively. States with higher populations, such as California, New York, Florida, and Virginia, lead all states in total reported needs.
