Following an unprecedented 75 acquisition approvals in the final quarter of 2021, the first quarter of 2022 started off at a slower pace with 31 water deals. When compared to Q1 2021, the number of approvals authorized by state regulatory commissions was down 44%. Even so, there remains a significant number of applications and asset purchase agreements in the pipeline to fuel private investment activity in the coming months.
